Personal Training

I love being a Personal Trainer! I love being given the opportunity to help somebody make a change in their life for the better and I recognize this as both an opportunity and a privilege.

I believe that everyone has the ability to make this change and improve their standard of life and level of fitness. I really think that I am uniquely qualified to help somebody make this change having been so overwight myself as a child and knowing what a struggle it is to become fit and stay fit. I can bring an added level of compassion to the training process so that we can achieve your goals as a true team.

When I start somebody in a training program I'm looking to set up a lifetime of personal fitness and a more fulfilling lifestyle that can be maintained whether I'm still involved or not. I may suggest simple activites like walking, biking and swimming as well as more complex routines to be performed in the gym. I know that my telling you what exercises to do is only part of the job - it's making sure that you can maintain the exercise program that's the most important thing that will lead to a permanent change for the better.

Having worked as a cook for many years I'm very consious of the role that food inevitably plays in a fitness program. It's usually very difficult to achieve fitness goals with exercise alone - diet modification is most often necessary. So I look to introduce dietary changes alongside the exercise routine - and again I'm completely aware that the most important aspect of any diet is its maintainability. Diet fads are not going to do the job!

So it's the team concept that I like most about my approach to personal training. I want to work together to achieve realistic goals that we can both be proud of. I provide instruction to point the team in the right direction and support as necessary to keep the team on course.
